That says a lot about how well the Dysons remove the picked-up dirt from the air inside the unit without relying on a filter, and how poorly the others don’t.Īs for the ball design the Dysons use, I feel that it is nothing more than a solution to a non-existent problem - and actually creates more problems than it solves. Now both the Dysons and the Sharks all recommend replacing/cleaning whatever filters they have on a monthly basis, but with the Sharks a clean filter is completely filthy after 1-2 uses but the Dyson’s filters all look like they can keep on going after a solid month. I also own and have owned several different models of Shark because I like a standard wheeled vacuum (and I am perpetually hopeful!). I have a Love-Hate relationship with Dysons, in that I absolutely LOVE how well they separate the dirt from the airstream inside the vacuum, but absolutely HATE the ball. I currently own a DC40 after having started with a DC14 (wheels, no ball) so many years ago from Woot. ![]()
